Appearing on Thursday’s episode of the podcast Not so HollywoodAnd the shrub The frontman, 57, spoke with host Adriana Costa about how he and Stephanie raised their three sons with different opinions, which Rossdale believes offers their sons a “cool perspective.”
When asked about how Rossdale and Stefani do the co-parenting job of their three sons, Kingston, 17, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 9, the singer explained that the two aren’t quite partners, they’re “just parents.”
“I think you can go one of two ways – either you do everything together and really co-parent, see how it goes – or you can just parent. And I think we’re just parents,” he began.

“We’re really different people… I don’t think there’s a lot of similarity in the way we raise them, but I think it gives them an incredible perspective to then choose which parts of those two serpents they’d like to inherit and move forward and which part of them gets out of the whole process.” .
“Because that’s what’s important is giving them a broad view of things and we certainly have some opposing opinions in particular, so I think it would be really helpful for them to make their own decisions as individuals.”
Stephanie’s second husband, Blake Sheltonwhom she married in 2021, is also helping raise her three children.
Shelton spoke about being a stepfather that year, saying, “I have a stepfather in my life and he’s one of my heroes. I love my stepfather and look up to him and he’s like a father to me, so I have good inspiration in my life to know how to do that and what kind of stepfather I want to be.” I take it very seriously.”
