Furya’ to begin production in August

Vin Diesel will play Richard P. Riddick again this summer. The “Fast and Furious” star is scheduled to begin production on the fourth part of the series, “Riddick: Furya,” on August 26.

The film, which follows 2000’s “Pitch Black,” 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” and 2013’s “Riddick,” will be filmed in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.

In “Riddick: Furya,” Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and fears will be left in ruins. But there, he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster – and some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he ever imagined.

The project reunites Diesel with writer-director David Twohy (“The Fugitive”). Diesel will produce the film under the One Race Films banner alongside Samantha Vincent. Rocket Science’s Thorsten Schumacher and Thank You Studios’ Lars Sylvest will also produce alongside Joe Neurwater.

Twohey, who wrote and directed the previous three Riddick films, has just finished writing the financial thriller Big Dogs, directed by Ridley Scott.

Meanwhile, Diesel has a huge slate of action projects slated for his future, including the final “Fast and Furious” movie, Mattel’s “Rock ‘Em Sock’Em Robots” movie, and Universal’s “Kojak” movie. Last month, the actor shared on Instagram All his upcoming films were “fighting for the spot” to start filming with him, but now it appears Riddick has won the race to film first.
