In Poland, the peak flood tide on the Oder moves further downstream. According to officials, the cities of Kloko and Nova Sol are particularly at risk. The highest level of water is expected there on Monday morning. Prime Minister Tusk said after a crisis meeting in Wroclaw that in some places they were still in the middle of flood protection and rescue operations.

Heavy rains last weekend caused severe flooding in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and other neighboring countries. At least 23 people were killed. Entire cities such as Kłodzko in Poland and Jeseník in the Czech Republic were destroyed by floods. A cleanup is currently underway in the Czech Republic. In some places, authorities offer free vaccinations against hepatitis A. Flooding increases the risk of epidemics as the water becomes contaminated.
