The US president is giving himself two years to travel to the wall in Mexico for the first time. Texas governor talks about “invasion” of immigrants and slams Joe Biden. He promotes cartels that make money from the human and fentanyl trade.

US President Joe Biden has visited the Mexican border for the first time since taking office two years ago. Along with Border Police officers, he closely watched a section of the wall. Biden accused Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, of not taking immigration laws seriously enough. “You have violated your constitutional duty to defend the United States against invasion by faithfully complying with federal law,” Abbott wrote in a letter to Biden upon his arrival.

“Your visit today to our southern border with Mexico is $20 billion short and two years too late,” the letter said. Abbott is being discussed as the Republican presidential candidate in the 2024 election. Biden has been repeatedly criticized by Republicans for his immigration policy. Republican governors of various states in South America – including Abbott – have repeatedly sent coaches full of immigrants to Democratically-governed states like New York or the capital Washington last year to pressure Biden.

At the end of December, Biden extended a provision to quickly deport illegal immigrants. At the same time, he allowed regular entry into the United States for 30,000 immigrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Venezuela each month. U.S. Border Patrol apprehended about 2.2 million migrants at the border with Mexico in fiscal year 2022, up until the end of September — more than ever before. However, this number includes many border crossings. In December, according to senior government officials, thousands of people a day arrived at the southern border of the United States.

Abbott blamed Biden and his administration for failure. In El Paso, immigrant camps were largely cleared for Biden’s visit, Abbott said. “Their open-border policies have emboldened the cartels to get rich off the deadly trade in fentanyl and human beings.” The United States is experiencing the “worst illegal immigration” in the country’s history. Texans pay a particularly heavy price for this.
