Exactly when will Apple release iPhone 15 Pro Max: New date claimed

Update August 25th below. This post was first published on August 23, 2023.

It won’t be long until Apple announces its latest iPhone, but a new report claims that one of the four phones, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be delayed.

What is changing?

First, this is the only thing that looks different. I’m sure the special Apple event where these products will see the light of day will be on Tuesday, September 12th at 10am PST, at a pre-recorded keynote. It will be shown to the press and guests at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Cupertino, I believe, and it will be broadcast online.

The other date that Apple will announce the special event will be next week, perhaps on Wednesday, August 30 or Thursday, August 31.

No, what changes comes next. The Apple keynote will be introducing four new iPhones (plus two new Apple Watches). iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro will go on sale Friday, September 22, with pre-orders starting the week before, most likely starting Friday, September 15.

But the iPhone 15 Pro Max seems to be delayed. according to 9to5Mac, who heard that from a “note by a senior equity analyst,” there will be a shortage of an exclusive component for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which means it won’t arrive until early to mid-October. All four phones will be revealed at the same time and Apple likely has some inventory so it won’t announce a different on sale date for the Pro Max.

Just when customers come in to place orders for the Max, they may quickly find that the shipping dates are up to October.

Why the delay?

The reason for the delay is a Sony component, an image sensor that will not be present in the iPhone 15 Pro. It is believed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a periscope camera for the telephoto lens. You know, a periscope camera doesn’t just pop up and down out of the camera body, although how fun would that be? Instead, it uses mirrors to reflect light back to the body of the phone, thus extending the focal length. This means that the telephoto lens has an equivalent magnification power that is 3x greater than that found in current iPhone Pro devices.

This is not the first time that the Pro and Pro Max phones have distinguished themselves, and the differences in cameras between iPhone phones are not new. They define the Max as the most capable, as well as the largest and most expensive iPhone.

So, when will he arrive?

Any unwanted delay. The analyst note indicates that there will be a delay of three to four weeks for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will result in it going on sale either Friday, October 6th or Friday, October 13th. In this case, I think it’s likely that Apple will announce a separate launch date for the Max in the keynote.

Update August 24th. Such is the impact that Apple has on our lives at this time of year that the guesswork is now starting to focus not on the day the phones go on sale (after all, timing matters most) not even the date of the special event which is also crucial because It tells us exactly what the new iPhones and Apple Watches will be like.

No, the new focus is on when Apple will send invitations to the private event. That’s right, the focus is on the day Apple is going to announce something that will go on sale later.

Insightful Zack’s Hall 9to5Mac It has just been evaluated when this special event will be announced. In a way, this seems to confirm that there is a consensus about the dates we think we know: Tuesday, September 12th for the special event, and Friday, September 22nd for the phones on sale. Hall suggests that the announcement could take place on one of four dates, August 29, 30, 31, and September 5. As you saw above, I said earlier that two August dates were possible, but I agree. It might be worth considering Tuesday, August 29th.

I will say now that I think the September date is too far away to be suitable for advertising. Apple loves to get its news out before the big electronics fair in Berlin, IFA, starts, so August is better than September.

I’m now leaning towards Tuesday August 29th or Wednesday August 30th as the most likely days (so mark your calendar, please) though, as always, this is based on the internal reactions of a company I’ve been covering for decades. Apple says nothing. Check back – I’ll update this post if we hear more.

Update August 25th. The controversy surrounding this year’s iPhone launch continues, and now a trusted and respected leaker has joined the fray. on twitter, Majin Boo He just commented on the date and I’m happy to say it points in the direction I think should be revealed on Tuesday 12th September.

A source told the leaker that an Apple NPI is coming, as the NPI refers to a new product launch, apparently. The source lists Tuesday as the day, and “all day” as the time. The full text of the tweet is: “According to a source who requested anonymity, the Apple event will take place on September 12th. I can’t be 100% sure of this info, but here are the screenshots. NPI = New Product Launch.

In fact, in another screenshot provided to Majin Bu, the time is from 12 AM to 11.59 PM. Now, I’ve come up with some very long keynotes for Apple, but 23 hours and 59 minutes probably got me going. Instead, this certainly refers only to the day itself, without delving into the exact times of the event.

The source is very sparse on detail, saying only “Apple Yearly NPI with New Devices for this year”. Apart from a simple knowledge of apostrophes and English grammar, there is not much to learn here beyond history.

Well, after all, that’s what matters to us, so it’s not bad. And while leaks from different sources pointing in the same direction aren’t always proof that something is true, the fact that a prominent figure like Majin Buu promoted it is an indicator.

They say “I can’t be 100% sure of this information”, so there is a pinch of salt to spice up the pot here, but the fact that it was tweeted out gives it weight.

In addition, let us remember that other sources alluded to the same date. And since it’s worth it, I think that’s definitely history. Sorry to all those hoping for an announcement next Tuesday or Wednesday, though that ship has certainly sailed. If Apple is holding an event the week of August 28th, we’ll know by now. The company always gives at least a week’s notice. No, the only question is when will Apple confirm September 12th, in my view.
