Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo Restomod combines simplicity with modern technology

Founded by Emanuele Colombini, the San Marino-based startup plans to become a pioneer in the restomod space for exotic cars.

The Eccentrica, a prototype based on the 1990s Lamborghini Diablo, was unveiled in Milan today. Started by entrepreneur and Lamborghini collector Emanuele Colombini, it brings together the work of Borromeode Silva’s design firm, the team of engineers and technicians who worked on the development of the prototype, and premium brands such as Pirelli, Brembo, Marantz, Capristo and Alcantara participating as partners.

The Eccentrica prototype maintains the essence of the original Diablo while offering a more modern driving experience through several technological and design updates. It maintains the bold proportions of the original car with the use of composite materials and a reinforced steel tubular body. The interior blends ’90s minimalism with the latest mechanics.

In addition to being revealed in Milan, the Eccentrica prototype will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​in England alongside other Lamborghini models. This debut will be followed by a tour of the United States, with stops at Monterey Car Week, New York, and Miami. These events are intended to generate interest in the prototype and its San Marino-based start-up, which plans to become a pioneer in the restomod field of exotic cars.

Driven by his love for the Lamborghini Diablo, Colombini conceived of the restomod. He has sought out partners from renowned premium auto brands to bring his vision to life. Eccentrica uses the Series I Diablo as the ‘donor car’, enhancing its performance and design while preserving its original character.

The name “Eccentrica” ​​reflects the brand’s focus on transforming and modernizing classic cars, while respecting the principles of classic mechanics. Design firm BorromeodeSilva has played an important role in enhancing the character of Diablo and maintaining its distinctive nature. The bodywork of the donor vehicle has been extensively redesigned, displaying eye-catching detail. The prototype features extreme proportions, a streamlined front end, redesigned side skirts, new alloy wheels, and a horizontal rear area with subtle detailing.

One of the Eccentrica’s standout features are its “pop-up headlights,” which combine a modern, futuristic look with compliance with modern safety standards. The restomod project blends future-oriented design with respect for Diablo’s heritage.

Produced from 1990 to 2001, the Diablo was the successor to the Countach and the predecessor to the Murcielago. Launched during Chrysler’s ownership of Lamborghini, the Diablo showcased the look of the ’90s supercar in a more refined package than the Countach. In all, the company produced a total of 2,884 cars and used either the 5.7-liter or 6.0-liter V12 engine and five-speed manual transmission to hit 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 204 mph.
