In a country of six million people, more than 24,000 new infections were estimated in the last 24 hours on Wednesday. According to official data, the particularly contagious Omikron variant now accounts for 96 percent of all new infections.

A fourth vaccine for vulnerable groups

However, Health Minister Magnus Heunicke pointed out that the curve, which is currently rising vertically, is flat again. The condition of the intensive care units is particularly closely monitored. The situation there is under control.

The health minister also announced that a particularly vulnerable group would be given the option of a fourth vaccine. Nearly 55 percent of all people in Denmark have already received the booster vaccine.

More than one million people in the country have been infected with the corona virus since the outbreak: the state health agency SSI has so far identified the virus in 1,000,009 citizens. A total of 3,433 people have died from the epidemic so far.
