Honestly, who can blame Captain America himself, Chris Evans, for wanting to catch a break? The longtime Marvel star opened up about GQ In a recent profile where he revealed he wants to act less in favor of just relaxing and smoking for the foreseeable future. It’s a fantastic goal, if I do say so myself.
“Now it really comes down to: What time of year do we shoot?” He told the outlet when discussing how he chooses projects now, in an age where he wants to work less. “Am I going to miss the fall? You know, I don’t want to miss the fall. I only have so many of them. …I can just make furniture for somebody and be happy.”
He added: “I like independent things. I’d just like to smoke a cigarette, put on some music, and work on pottery. He even shouted out Seth Rogan’s handcrafted smoking accessories line, Houseplant, as an example of a positive hobby. “Seth Rogen, what does he do? Good for you, man,” Evans continued. “You just go into your workshop and make something. How satisfying, how simple, how everyday. I love acting, but you can’t act alone. I chose a career that not only requires a lot of different artists, but an audience as well.
It’s clear that the superhero extraordinaire – also known for his recent roles in Snowpiercer and Knives Out (check out our ranking of his best films here) – is not only due for a long break, but fully deserves it. When one thinks about the idea of “superhero fatigue,” they rarely look at it from the perspective of the superheroes themselves. But it’s not easy to be the Good guy, Evans always has been. He tapped into a stress-relieving void at this point, even going so far as to want to have what his dog had: ignorance combined with bliss.
“What he doesn’t think about is yesterday,” Evans said. “What he doesn’t worry about is tomorrow. He actively engages in the moment in this really clean way. And it all sounds a little simple, but he’s a little teacher, right? He’s like a little example of what we should do. And he’s so honest, so pure, so good.” Very. He has no idea that I’m famous. He has no idea. And he can’t know, and he’s like this, it’s a hermetic thing. I mean, heFamous and will never be known. He can’t, it’s like an impenetrable personality trait. “It can’t be corrupt.”
