Call to NATO in Maischberger
Zelenskyj Adviser: “Europe alone cannot be defended forever”

By Marko Schlichting

The military offensive in Ukraine is progressing more slowly than planned. As a reinforcement, Ukrainian presidential adviser Rodnyansky has implicitly called for NATO troops to be stationed in his country. Europe is currently benefiting from the death of Ukrainian men, he criticized Maischberger.

The NATO summit concluded in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Ukraine’s possible NATO accession is an important topic. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had requested this. NATO is considering Ukraine’s membership – but only after the war. Because until it works, annexation will lead to the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine.

Kyiv is demanding this now. Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksandr Rodnyansky’s statement in an interview with talk show host Sandra Maischberger on ART is making people sit up and take notice.

“European Advantages”

According to Rodnyansky, the intensity of Russian attacks on Ukraine has decreased. The reason was logistical problems on the Russian side, and I didn’t have enough ammunition. “We have to use that to our advantage,” Rodniansky explains. “People are still fighting in Ukraine, we will not stop, no one thinks about it. We have sacrificed a lot for it. And we will continue to try to free our country.”

The adviser has mixed feelings about the rejection of Ukraine’s initial entry into NATO. He then turned to the attack on coalition partners: “It’s about not wanting to preserve the European peace order forever,” Rodniansky insists. “We’re doing it now with our blood. Our men are dying on the front and Europe is benefiting from holding back the aggressor. You never want to do it alone.”

The Russian war must not go on forever, Rodnyansky explains. NATO has failed to send a relevant signal to the Russian dictator. “We welcome NATO’s commitment to accept Ukraine after the war. But the war is not over yet.” In order to end the war, one party must win. For this, Ukraine needs additional support in the air and on the ground, and the Ukrainian border line from 1991 needs to be restored.

“You Can’t Just Arms”

Gerhart Baum, a human rights activist and FDP pioneer who was federal interior minister from 1978 to 1982, agrees with Rodnyansky. “NATO security guarantees should set limits for Russian President Putin. And if he doesn’t comply, push him back if necessary. That means not just supplying weapons, but doing more.”

Bam says Ukraine’s inviolable security cannot be guaranteed by diplomatic measures and arms deliveries alone. “Putin needs to be told very clearly: up to here and no further.”

A moment later, Pam receives applause when she declares, “The fate of Ukraine is the fate of the free world. If we give in here, we all lose.”

And Baum also has a clear view of the possible use of Russian nuclear weapons: “Yes, Putin has nuclear weapons, but the Chinese have banned their use. I’d like to see him do it, and then what happens.” A desire that some viewers may not understand.

The Russian system is collapsing

According to Rodnyansky, Ukraine’s accelerated NATO membership would have had another effect: “It would have further fueled political turmoil within Russia,” he says. The presidential adviser firmly believes that the Russian system is collapsing.

He also thinks the guidelines for joining NATO after the war are wrong. Ukraine has already advanced further in the development of democracy than today’s member Turkey. Corruption is currently rampant in countries like Romania.

Rodnyansky takes a positive view of Ukraine’s current military offensive: progress is being made, albeit slower than expected. “I am confident that NATO will stand firmly behind Ukraine and continue to provide us with the absolutely necessary weapons, ammunition and cluster munitions that are critical to this war.”
