Biden: We will not “facilitate” Ukraine’s accession to NATO

Biden added that the United States has “done a lot” to make sure that Ukraine has “the ability to coordinate militarily.”

On Saturday, Biden also conveyed an optimistic outlook on US-China relations ahead of Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Beijing this weekend.

Blinken was scheduled to visit China in February, but the trip was canceled after a US fighter jet shot down a Chinese spy balloon off the coast of the Carolinas.

Biden indicated to reporters that the balloon may not have been an intended espionage attempt by the Chinese government.

“I don’t think the leadership knew where it was, knew what was inside, knew what was going on,” Biden said. “I think it was more embarrassing than it was on purpose.”

In addition to Blinken’s visit, Biden indicated that he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping again “over the next several months” to discuss how to “get along” despite “legitimate differences.”

Upon arriving in Philadelphia, where Biden is scheduled to headline a rally with the labor unions and fly over the site of the I-95 bridge collapse, the president was greeted by Counselor Anita Dunn, Sen. Bob Casey, Rep. Brendan Boyle, Gov. Josh. Shapiro and Senator John Fetterman.

In a press briefing with Pennsylvania officials following the I-95 air tour, Biden said “there is no more important project right now in the country, as far as I’m concerned,” and said he was directing his team “not figuratively, but literally, to move heaven and earth to get it done.” as soon as possible “.

Biden also pledged that the federal government would “reimburse 100 percent” of the first phase of I-95 reconstruction, and “90 percent” of expenses thereafter.

And when asked earlier if he expected a controversial presidential campaign, Biden quipped, “It depends on who the candidate is.”
