Apple users are being blocked from accessing their Apple IDs without any explanation

There appears to be a growing Apple ID outage of some sort affecting users tonight. A number of people on social media say they were logged out of their Apple ID across multiple devices on Friday evening and were forced to reset their password before logging in again…

Are you signed out of your Apple ID?

We received our first tip on this matter at around 8pm ET. In the hours that followed, the issue gained significant attention on social media.

However, it's clear based on social media reports that there's something shaky going on behind the scenes at Apple. A few of us here in 9to5Mac I was also directly affected by the problem.

People are signed out of their Apple ID across all their devices. If you try to sign in using your original Apple ID password, you'll be locked out of your account. You will then have to reset your password before you can log in again. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to this Why this happens.

It is unclear at this time whether what is happening on Friday evening has anything to do with the ongoing password reset attacks issue we have been tracking for several weeks.

Additionally, if you have Stolen Device Protection enabled, randomly signing out of your Apple ID can be a particularly big headache if you're far from a trusted location.

Another problem: If you reset your Apple ID password, Any application-specific passwords Your settings you previously set up via iCloud will also be reset.
