Amy Sedaris had an embarrassing accident on stage at the National Board of Review Awards in New York City on Thursday night.
The 62-year-old actress and comedian was so excited to present Paul Giamatti with the Best Actor award for his role in The Holdovers that she accidentally fell to the floor in front of a room packed with celebrities.
After presenting Giamatti with the award, Sedaris headed to the back of the stage as the actor prepared to give a speech after his win.
But at that time the “Elf” actress tripped and fell, much to the surprise of others.
Giamatti, 56, rushed to help the actress up, but it seemed as if the fall wasn't serious enough as Sedaris remained on the ground as the room erupted in laughter.
Giamatti jokingly referred to it when he returned to the podium to give his speech.
The National Review Board shared a hilarious snapshot of the ordeal on social media.
“NBR Best Actor winner Paul Giamatti wowed host Amy Sedaris with his nuanced comedic performance in Alexander Payne's THE HOLDOVERS!” They commented ” Instagram share.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of Hollywood stars, including Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Chastain, Martin Scorsese, and Zac Efron.
Held at 42 Via Cipriani, this star-studded evening pays homage to the best films released over the past year.
Cooper received an NBR Icon Award for his role as composer Leonard Bernstein in the newly released film “Maestro.”
The awards ceremony, hosted by Willie Guest, also attended the awards ceremony, including stars such as Ethan Hawke, Mark Ruffalo, Michael J. Fox, Wendell Pierce, Elizabeth Olsen, Amy Sedaris and Teyana Taylor.
Other celebrities include Laura Linney, Lily Gladstone, Andrew Scott, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
Among the most important films honored this year is “Killers of the Flower Moon” for best picture; Martin Scorsese for Best Director; Paul Giamatti for Best Actor in The Holdovers, and finally Lily Gladstone for Best Actress.
Actor Daniel Day-Lewis even came out of retirement for the evening to present Scorsese with the Best Director award.
The three-time Oscar-winning British actor took a hiatus from acting after 2017's “Phantom Thread” and has largely avoided the spotlight since.
