If there is no agreement between Republicans and Democrats at the end of the week in the United States, it will be called a shutdown. A new budget should be decided.

WASHINGTON DC – In the United States, the shutdown of government business – the so-called shutdown – is approaching. The U.S. government announced on Thursday that a “shutdown” for federal agency workers appeared imminent, as several U.S. media outlets reported in unison.

A US shutdown is approaching: Republicans and Democrats must come to an agreement

This means millions of employees and military personnel can no longer be paid. Republicans and Democrats in Congress must agree on a solution before Sunday to prevent a shutdown of government business. The budget, approved by the US Congress at the end of last year, expires at the end of this month – Sunday night (October 1).

A new federal budget must be approved by the end of September to prevent bankruptcy. The political battle repeats itself every year — usually Congress passes a midterm budget, then fights again in a few months over funding government operations. This time the situation is special because the Republican Party has only a narrow majority in the US House of Representatives and the factions are very fragmented.

White House Attacks Republicans: “Their Confusion Threatens to Shut Us Down”

Meanwhile, the White House blamed Republicans for the upcoming “shutdown.” “Four months ago, President Joe Biden, Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives and Republicans and Democrats in the Senate reached a bipartisan budget deal,” Shalanda Young, director of the White House Budget Office, said, according to CNN.

He added that all parties except the Republicans now in the House of Representatives would stick to the deal. Republicans “turned their backs” on the deal, Young said. “Their confusion and their confusion alone now threatens to shut us down,” he further complained. This is not only a violation of a treaty, but also a violation of the law, because Biden signed the treaty and declared it law. (PP/TPA)
