One of the D.C. area’s most popular music festivals — HFStival — returns in September, moving to Nationals Park.

After a week of hype, generated last week by a social media post, IMP and Nationals Park have announced the lineup for the show, Saturday 21 September. Headlines that have been described as “one day, one stage” include Mail Service and Death Cab for Cutie.

Many of the bands in this year’s 11-band lineup have played at previous HFStivals at RFK Stadium, including Violent Femmes, Garbage, Bush and Incubus.

With the expected popularity of the show, HFStival uses a lottery system, It is open now until Sunday, June 16. Lottery participants will be notified whether their ticket order will be fulfilled by June 21.

“We used this lottery system when we opened The Atlantis,” said Seth Horowitz, owner of IMP, 9:30 Club, The Anthem and The Atlantis, and operator of the Merriweather Post Pavilion and Lincoln Theater. “It’s a fan-friendly system for what will be a high-demand festival.”

Other bands in the lineup include Jimmy Eat World, Girl Talk, Tonic, Filter and Lit.

“HFStival’s business was doing unprecedented, selling more tickets than it had ever done before, so it made sense to bring back HFStival,” Horowitz said.
