Petr Bystron denies receiving money from Russian propaganda network: he faces defamation charges

HHundreds of thousands of euros have reportedly flowed from a Russian campaign network to European politicians – including at least one German, Petr Bystron from the AfD. The member of the Bundestag is running for second place on the AfD list in European elections on June 9, behind Maximilian Krah. Both Craw and the party leadership initially distanced themselves from Bystron.

On Wednesday, when the allegations became public in the Czech newspaper “Deník N”, co-chairs Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla also requested a written statement from Bystron by 2pm on Thursday. Krah was quoted in several media outlets as advising his party colleagues not to appear on the campaign trail for the time being. It was said that they did not want to act with him anymore. However, as Krav's spokesperson clarified to FAZ, this was considered a friendly suggestion.
