The San Francisco 49ers had a very disappointing few weeks before their Week 9 bye. After starting the season 5-0, they proceeded to lose their next three games to teams that weren’t quite as good as they had been — or as good as they could have been. Injuries to key players like Deebo Samuel complicated the Niners’ plan, and they were hit with a bye week and desperately needed some time to recover.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are also coming off a bye, but they’re basically the negative image of the 49ers right now. They started out 1-2, but then reeled off five straight wins to improve to 6-2.
The Niners need the bye to rest and reset, and they hope to come out swinging. The Jags also need a rest (as every team does), but their main priority is to continue the confident play and very good feelings that have given them a boost this season.
