Over the past few hours, YouTube appears to have mistakenly removed channels and banned accounts for violating its “Spam, Deceptive Practices and Scams Policy” even for users who had never uploaded videos in what appears to be an error.

Updated 10/4: As of Friday afternoon, “all channels that were improperly removed due to spam and deceptive practices have been fully reinstated.” Access to paid memberships has also been restored.

We’re working on bringing back the last few videos, thanks for bearing with us! We know this has been a frustrating experience, and we truly appreciate your patience as we resolve this issue.

If you’re still having any issues, don’t hesitate to contact us!

to update: YouTube has Admit this issue It actively brings back channels, as well as access to paid YouTube TV, YouTube Premium, and YouTube Music subscriptions.

We receive reports of channels being improperly removed due to spam and deceptive practices. Our teams are actively working on restoring the channels.

Those that have been returned and are missing playlists will have this content restored soon.

If your channel was removed and reinstated incorrectly, you may notice that some content, such as playlists, may be missing. Don’t worry, it’s just a delay and all your content will be restored soon.

As such, the accounts are unlikely to have committed “serious or repeated violations.”

Non-professional creators have lost access to their YouTube account and can’t watch videos or listen to YouTube music. YouTube Premium subscribers are also affected by this issue, as playlists and other saved content cannot be accessed when blocked.

YouTube users learn about account ban/channel removal from emails (like the one below). There are dozens of reports this afternoon from all over the world (including the US, Europe and Asia), where people are upset about losing access, especially to saved playlists and/or music libraries.

According to the email, users are able to appeal and we are seeing several reports of this being successful, with account access restored. However, some of these people say they are not currently seeing their playlists. For others, the call brought everything back.

Hopefully YouTube will automatically undo this without any user action.

We’ve reached out to YouTube for more information, but this is a very big mistake.
