Cole Hauser and Kevin Costner They’re closer than ever as they pursue the fifth season of “Yellowstone.”
Created by Taylor Sheridan, the Western drama explores how Costner’s John Dutton deals with life as the governor of Montana and the unexpected challenges this role brings to his rancher family. The hit series, which has garnered surprise fans like Drake, has been airing since 2018. The new season premiered on Sunday.
Hauser told Fox News Digital that he and his father in television law have been dating over the years.

“[What surprised me about Costner is] What kind of human is he,” the 47-year-old explained about the 67-year-old. Before being an actor or as a creative spirit he is just a person. It’s the kind of area in California [that I’m from]. It’s from Ventura. I’m from Santa Barbara. And to get to know him over the past five years, I mean, I’ve learned a lot about him being just a gentleman on set and just group acting… he’s got [a] family. I have three children, a wonderful wife. And he’s just someone to look at in my opinion. And then, creatively, he told his story, and his desire to continue to push the circumstance forward as… a creator… he’s an inspiration.”
The series helped launch West back in Hollywood.
After Costner’s “Yellowton” became a smash hit, Paramount + streaming service ordered the “1932” series about the Dutton family roots. In February, the service also announced that the first version, “1883,” would be returning for a second season. Its stars include Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill.

Despite the show’s success, Hauser admitted that it was “not easy” to leave his family behind for long periods To shoot a movie in Montana. He and his wife, photographer and former actress Cynthia Daniel, have been married since 2006.

He said, “The children are growing up.” “I have an 18, a 14 and a 9. Being away for five or six months out of the year isn’t easy. But I’m trying to come back. They come during the summer when they’re not in school and they don’t play sports. We make it work. But there’s always an effort to be better. When it comes to making sure I’m around…especially for my older child. They definitely need me. So it’s a bit of work to move between the two.”
Hauser noted that he was always eager to help his kids embrace the great outdoors, especially while he was filming. The actor, who grew up in Oregon, previously told People magazine that his childhood was filled with horseback riding and “walking around with cows.”
“They love to fish,” he boasted. “We fish a lot at Bitterroot and this is our time to relax and talk about life and what’s going on with them. And then we sit under the stars a lot there. Montana is a very quiet place to spend time with your loved ones, family and friends…You have to study all week, of course, but on holidays.” At the end of the week, I dedicate as much time to them as possible. I am just hopping for them.”

Playing Rip Wheeler is not easy. Hauser described how the role required grueling hours devoted to “cowboy camp,” his daily effortless riding and rope training.
“You have to put in the saddle time,” he said. “There’s no way around it. You’ll be in pain the first week, 10 days… You have to be great as a jockey. And Taylor [Sheridan] It’s been great all five years I’ve had some of the best in the business when it comes to continuing to grow and being better not only [in] My work as a cowboy, but also in the world of the great knight. So I am lucky and lucky to have these people around me. I will continue to do so. I mean, there’s no way you can ever be awesome. It’s just one of those things that you have to keep working on.”
In addition, being in the mountains of Montana has its perks. Hauser said he learned some valuable lessons along the way from real-life cowboys.

“It’s all about discipline and constantly riding a horse,” he said. “It’s important that you always look for those little diamonds they give you along the way, whether it’s ropes, chops, or riding. We’re about some of the greatest professionals when it comes to riding in the world. Open your ears and listen. Thankfully, I think they Very happy with what I’m doing.”

Shortly before Hauser took on the role of Wheeler, he broke his back as he fell from a horse filming “The Last Hero.” At first, he was worried about being able to ride again, but as the saying goes, if you fall off a horse, you’ll get right back to riding.
“It was a little tricky, but a lot of it is mental,” the star said. “And what did you find? [with] Getting back into the saddle is that I bolstered my back because your core is a big thing when it comes to riding. And so, it really helped me when I fractured my back…three months before I got the job, and then I’m back riding and really working on a drastic improvement.”

“I fixed my back,” he insisted. “Actually, when I really stop riding is when the pain starts. So the months I get between Yellowstone and back to work is when I have to keep making sure my build is strong. They grow up…the body starts to break down.”
Hauser smiled when he was told that chances are, he was supposed to be on a horse.
“I started this way and I think I will end that way,” he said.
