Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi Note 5 handset is rumored to launch on November 11 in China. The smartphone was recently spotted on Chinese certification site TENAA giving us a good idea about its key specs.
According to the listing, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 will feature a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels having an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Elsewhere, the listing suggests that the handset will be offered in a choice of 3GB RAM/32GB storage or 4GB RAM/64GB storage option. On the photography front, the handset will come with a 12MP primary camera along with a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies.
While juicing up the handset will be a 4000mAh battery. That said, there’s no information on the chipset, though word is that it might come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 processor. The handset is expected to run Android 7.1.2 Nougat out-of-the-box with Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 8 Android skin.
Interestingly, if TENAA’S listing is to be believed, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 will be offered in more color variants than any of its predecessors. The listing suggests that the Redmi Note 5 will allegedly be offered in Black, Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Gray, Pink, Red, Blue, and white color variants.
Also, new concept images of the handset are doing rounds on the web. Going by the leaked images, the Redmi Note 5 will feature very thin bezels on the edges though looks very akin to its predecessor in terms of overall design aesthetics. For instance, leaked images show the handset with subtly curved edges along with the use of metal.
And apart from the rumored edge to edge display, the latest set of leaked images also reveal that the handset retains the classic 3.5mm jack.
Xiaomi’s Redmi Note lineup has been rather popular among users thanks to their affordable price tag and solid overall performance. And based on the latest rumors and leaks, it appears the Redmi Note 5 can command more popularity than any of its predecessors with features like a larger screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
The Redmi Note 5 is expected to launch on November 11, though nothing is confirmed until an official announcement is made. That being said, it does appear that Xiaomi might go for an edge to edge display for the upcoming Redmi Note 5.
