Xbox servers are down, some people are unable to sign in or play games

Xbox servers went offline today, July 2, with some people reporting difficulty connecting to games and services on the platform.

After not mentioning it at first, Official Xbox Server Status Website Login services are experiencing a “major outage.” With a server network as large as Xbox, results may vary, but many players are unable to log in. Microsoft gaming accounts Microsoft has acknowledged that there are server issues. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” the company said.

An Xbox support account said Microsoft is “aware that some users have been disconnected from Xbox Live.” The company said it is “investigating” the matter. Just after 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET, it provided an update saying the “investigation is taking longer than expected.” There’s no word on when Xbox Live servers will be back online.

The Xbox Network, formerly known as Xbox Live, experiences connection issues and other server problems on a semi-regular basis. However, this latest outage was significant enough to prompt fans to take to social media to complain and express their frustration.

Account for Call of Duty fans Charlie Intel reported Call of Duty servers were among those affected by the issues today. Microsoft is no doubt hoping to fix the issues quickly, as the Xbox Network is sure to be full of users in the coming days over the Fourth of July weekend.
