Key sources suggest that work has already begun on the next instalment in ‘The Legend of Zelda” franchise. According to a report by Game Informer, Eji Aonuma, who has worked on every instalment in the Zelda franchise since 98, has reportedly penned a note suggesting that the next Zelda game is being worked on.

Nintendo began working on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild shortly after it finished Skyward Sword in 2011, and the Japanese gaming giant confirmed at E3 this year that it plans to speed up development of future games so reduce such long year-on-year gaps. It took nearly five years for Nintendo to develop Breadth of the Wild.

In developing Breath of the Wild, legendary director and producer Eiji Aonuma wanted to tweak the gameplay in the Zelda series. As a result, Breath of the Wild introduced new mechanics as well as designs, along with featuring an open-world environment, an upgraded physics engine, high-end visuals, along with voice acting.

The game was announced in 2013, and was initially planned for release as a Wii U exclusive in 2015. However, the game was delayed twice before it finally released on March 3, 2017. At launch, Breath of the Wild is only available as a Switch exclusive.

In other related, The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild bagged the esteemed ‘Game Of The Year Award’ at this years’ annual The Game Awards ceremony. In an interview with Japanese publication Nintendo Everything, Aonuma how excited and stoked he felt after claiming the distinguished award.

Even critics have deemed Breath of the Wild as one of the greatest video games of all time. The game was praised for its high-definition visuals and open-world environment. The game also broke Nintendo’s sales record in various regions, as the Switch version of the game sold nearly four million copies worldwide by September 2017, making it the highest selling game on the console.
