Video: YouTuber’s absolute switch OLED test ‘finally’ achieves burn-in after 3,600 hours

You might remember a story we posted earlier this year about a 1800 hours OLED switch burn test. Made by Graphic Artist and Creator Bob Wolf On his YouTube channel wolf dung. At that time, there was no “noticeable combustion”.

He’s now posted an update on YouTube, and in this video, he reveals how the system finally showed some signs of burning. It happened about six months later and about 3,600 hours later. Again, this is the switch that operates a fixed screen from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Day after day, it took so long for the shadows to appear.

So what is the ruling? There is nothing to worry about if you are planning to buy an OLED transformer:

“Is that something you have to worry about, definitely not… This took me 3600 hours to get to this point and was on this screen the whole time at full speed, and it would take someone years to do in a particular game, and again, this game needs To a widget or something that isn’t moving on the screen, and that element on the screen for 3600 hours should be a bit of a shadow. Even if you’re specifically playing Breath of the Wild… I don’t think that would be an issue at all.

“If you’re worried about buying an OLED transformer for this reason, don’t worry.”

While this experience has already demonstrated that there is nothing to worry about when it comes to this system’s OLED panel, Wolff intends to continue to see “how much worse it can get” and how long it will take for the system to reach an unworkable state. to run.

Wolf thinks it will likely take about another 1,800 hours before combustion becomes “game-breaking”.

He also tested the battery, as the system has now been connected to the charger all this time. When it was working exclusively on battery after 3600 hours – it can still last for 8 hours at maximum settings.

“So, if you’re worried about leaving it on the charger for too long, don’t worry either.”
