According to Lukashenko, Prigozhin signaled in the afternoon that he would end his insurgency only after several more rounds of negotiations, provided he and his people were guaranteed security. He then offered to escort Prigogine and the Wagner militia to his country.

According to official reports, Lukashenko, a close ally of the Kremlin leader, mediated between Putin and Prigozhin in Saturday’s brief uprising by Wagner mercenary units and persuaded him to step down. In return, the Kremlin granted Prigozhin immunity.
