Though marked by the initial scandals, many regard the Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 as some of the best Android devices that money could purchase. With that precedent set, all the Android users must be excited for whatever Google is cooking up with its third Pixel device, as their offerings of the year 2017 have set the bar rather very high.
As it is yet early in the year, the rumors about the third Pixel device are a bit thin. Whether the consumers need to know what chipset the Pixel 3 would be packing, or they need to know when they could get their hands on the device, our roundup has all the latest rumors and news.
The Android world is up in the arms at the moment over the ever-increasing list of smartphones acquiring the iPhone X-style notch. While Google has not given us as much of a lead as, OnePlus when it comes to notch-status, there is a decent chance the Pixel 3 would sport one.
The upcoming successor to Oreo, Android P, consists of a notch-preview feature for the developers, embracing the “new” trend in the Android community. While that in itself is not a confirmation, it is obvious that Google is aware of the present design changes. Probably it would join in as well.
While most of the Android devices are not even running Android 8.0, it is expected that the Pixel 3 to be among the first to run Android P. Google has not revealed a specific 9.0 release date for any phones, but it will make sense that its own devices will get it first, as evidenced by only Pixel devices having access to the Android P preview.
Currently the Pixel 2 houses the Snapdragon 835 that, while powerful, is already outclassed by the 845 found in the Sony Xperia XZ2 and Galaxy S9. It makes sense only, then, for the Pixel 3 to come packed with the greatest and latest from Qualcomm.
There is a vague outside chance that the Pixel 3 may sport a Google-made processor. Google has been working on the development of a silicon team of their own with the hopes to the rival Apple’s success with its A-series chips, but it is not expected that this project would be ready by this year.
In accordance with Droid Life, Google could be making three Pixel devices in the current year, carrying the codenames “crosshatch,” and “blueline,” and “albacore.” Two of these devices are expected to be premium devices that could mirror the 2017’s Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
While it is not expected for Google to release Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL at a reduced price, the rumors suggest this third device would be a mid-range Google phone. In accordance with the Economic Times, Google is planning to put up a new phone in the Indian market, targeted to compete with the other mid-range smartphones. If this new device is branded as a Pixel 3 or entirely something else is yet to be observed. The Google Pixel 3 might be released on 18th October.
