‘The Marvels’ Lacked Supervision During Filming, Bob Iger Admits in His Analysis of Dismal Box Office – Deadline

Disney CEO Bob Iger blames the impact of the pandemic as part of the reason for the dismal box office results Wonders.

Speaking at the New York Times Business Summit earlier this week, Iger said the studio needed some revitalization.

Wonders He explained that it was shot during Covid. “There wasn’t a lot of supervision on set, so to speak, where we have executives [that are] I really look forward to what is accomplished day after day after day.

He listed a number of reasons behind the delay in the studio’s latest film series, including streaming and messaging.

“Arrival experience [the films] “Watching them at home is better than ever,” he said. “And [it’s] A bargain when you think about it. You can get the Disney+ streaming service for $7 per month. This is much cheaper than taking your whole family to see a movie. So, I think the bar has been raised now in terms of quality in terms of what people are getting out of their homes and into movie theaters.

Iger also admitted that the messages in recent films have turned off a certain segment of the audience.

“Entertainment first, not messages,” Iger said, adding that the “positive messages to the world” sometimes overshadowed the storytelling.

He added, “I’m not sure that another studio will achieve some of the numbers we achieved,” referring to previous successes. “I mean, we’ve gotten to the point where if a movie doesn’t make a billion dollars at the global box office, we’re disappointed,” he said. “This is an incredibly high bar and I think we have to be more realistic.”
