The Knicks trade with Alec Borks, Nerlence Noel and the Pistons to make way for Jalen Bronson’s pursuit, per report

Last week, on the night of the clouds, New York Knicks Kemba Walker and the 13th overall pick (Jalen Duren) traded to Detroit Pistons In exchange for the first round selection in the future. Now, a few days later, the two parties have come together to reach another agreement.

This time, the Knicks will send Alec Burkes and Nerlence Noel two future second-rounders and $6 million in cash to the Pistons in order to make more room for their pursuit of Galen Bronson, According to Adrian Voinarowski. The Pistons will not send any players to the Knicks in the deal.

By moving Burks and Noel, the Knicks will be able to remove an additional $19 million from their books. Combined with the money paid through Walker’s trading, they now have about $30 million in cover space this summer, which will be more than enough for them. Bronson offered a $100 million deal over four years.

Early Tuesday, several reports suggested that Knicks are now the favorites to sign Bronson. They’ve hired his father as an assistant coach, worked their way up and will now be able to make a competitive bid when the free agency opens at 6 p.m. ET on June 30. Mavericks Better prepared for immediate success, Bronson will face a new challenge in New York and will also have a bigger role in attack.

It’s also worth noting that since the Knicks now have plenty of room to sign with Bronson, the Mavericks’ chances of salvaging the situation by tagging and trading have been drastically reduced. As it stands, Maf Bronson is likely to lose for nothing, which will be a huge blow to their hopes of making another round of playoffs next season.

For the Pistons, this deal also affects their summer plans. While reports after the success of their draft indicated that they would no longer seek to follow Deandre Ayton, there was still a chance to go that route. Now, they have officially exited this sweepstakes. Instead, they’ll be happy to use their max space to accommodate expired contracts and add draft assets in the process. Veterans like Burks and Noel can help set an example for their young team this season, and they may turn on Deadline. If not, it will expire next summer, and the pistons will once again have plenty of room to work with.
