Super Meat Boy has already arrived on several platforms which include the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, as the PC. However, the game is yet to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. Though worry not Switch owners, as on the official Super Meat Boy Twitter account, the team confirmed that the forthcoming Super Meat Boy Forever will soon be arriving on Nintendo Switch.
According to the game’s official Twitter handle, the game is scheduled to release on Switch on January 11th, 2018. In addition, it appears Switch owners will also get an exclusive race mode when the game becomes officially available. Pricing is yet to be announced.
Also, details about the new game mode remain rather thin for the moment, but it appears to be an offline, split screen race mode, where players go head to head to see who’s the fastest.
Though what we do know is that Super Meat Boy Forever should offer the original game’s gameplay, along with its main boss Dr. Fetus. Meat Boy and Bandage Girl’s child Nugget get been kidnapped by Dr. Fetus and the duo must work together to get her back. Both characters can kick and punch enemies in order to avoid deadly obstacles to find Nugget. Also, the control scheme uses only two buttons, a major departure from the original.
Super Meat Boy has been an indie smash hit since its release back in 2010. It bagged the award for Most Challenging Game from IGN, and got an award for the Best Downloadable Game from GameSpot and GameTrailers. Critics and reviewers were impressed with the game’s precise control, retro-themed artwork, and pumping soundtrack.
Super Meat Boy was a huge success, and sold more than one million copies as of January 2012. Super Meat Boy is available now for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
