Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is recovering at home after being hospitalized with “serious” burns sustained in a camp fire.

In a series of Instagram Live videos he posted to his social media account yesterday, the DJ and keyboardist assured fans he would be “fine” as he updated viewers on his journey.

“My face exploded” He said in the first five-minute clip:“I’m fine, I’ll be fine, but I’ve got serious burns on my face and arms,” he said in the video, which shows him facing himself, showing close-ups of his “burned” eyebrows, his “blistered” mouth and his arms, which he said had been blown off by the flames. He captioned the video simply: “Ugh.”

In a statement posted on the heavy metal band’s page, Slipknot said: books“Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and suffered burns all over his body. He is recovering with his family and will join us on stage in Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for their well wishes and will see you all soon.”

Wilson’s first video shows medical staff instructing him to take deep breaths. He is hooked up to a nasal cannula and says an X-ray will be taken to make sure he didn’t “inhale any flames.” In the background, nurses can be heard asking him where his hospital bracelet is. Wilson, no stranger to accidents, recalled how he was likely in the same hospital last New Year’s when he cut his finger.

Wilson appears to be in good spirits, admitting that his skin “hurts” a lot and that his wounds need bandaging, but adding: “I don’t care what it takes. I’ll see you on the tour.”

“I seem to be allergic to fire,” he joked. In the background, a woman can be heard shouting, “Get off Instagram” and “Get off your phone.”

Longest Second videoThe video, which is more than 10 minutes long in total, shows Wilson being transferred to another facility with a better burn center. In the update, the musician pointed to his social media presence as proof that his condition is “not terrible.”

“I’ll say I know better than that,” he said, adding that he got burned while working on his farm. “Everyone has to be really safe when they’re playing with fire. I’ve dealt with that a lot of times.”

“That won’t stop me,” he continued, joking again: “I got my eyebrows done for free. I got some real sideburns,” and “cheap Botox” for my lips.

“I want to thank everyone for all the get well wishes and everything,” Wilson concluded in the clip. “Don’t worry about me. I’m going to be fine. I don’t want anyone to get too upset about this. That’s why I’m on IG Live, so you can all see, ‘Here I am.’ Strong man, I’m going to be fine. I just need to slow down sometimes and trust that inner voice. Sometimes when you’re a big, brave man, that side can get in the way of rational thinking. Rational thinking is a lot harder than anything else most of the time.”

Her partner Kelly Osbourne also shared updates on Instagram with a series of stories she posted today as she headed to pick Wilson up from the hospital. “He’s still in a lot of pain, but he’s doing great, he’s doing much better,” she said, thanking fans for their “well wishes and prayers.”
