Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is said to release on August 23, according to a report by GSMArena which cites multiple Korean sources. The upcoming flagship phablet will be unveiled at an event in New York, according to the report, as opposed to IFA which witnessed the launch the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 7.

If the reports turn out to be true, Samsung can gain a head start over Apple as the next-gen special-edition iPhone is also due this fall. This may give the Korean manufacturer some leverage in terms of sales as Apple is reportedly experiencing supply issues with its upcoming anniversary edition iPhone.

In other related news, alleged case renders of the Galaxy Note 8 are also doing rounds on the web. Going by the leaked case renders, the phablet will sport the same Infinity Display found on the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Also, there are no signs of a Home button. However, cutouts have been made for three buttons on the left panel, two of them being the volume rockers, while one of them could be dedicated to Bixby, Samsung’s home-grown personal digital assistant.

On the back, cutouts reveal that the primary camera will be aligned horizontally, most likely a dual camera setup making it the first Samsung phone to come with twin rear cameras. Also, the back will house a LED flash along with the fingerprint sensor.

Past reports indicate that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will feature a 6.3-inch Infinity Display with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. Under the hood, it is rumored to come with Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 chip variants. In addition, it is said to feature 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of built-in storage. Not to forget, sources also suggest that the Galaxy Note 8 is said to feature improved S-Pen capabilities.
