Kremlin Plans Lightning Law Against “Homosexuality Propaganda”

The Russian parliament plans to introduce a tougher version of an already strict anti-gay law. According to Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, this fall must be accepted.
Volodin said the law would “protect” Russians. Billionaire and media mogul Konstantin Malofeev expressed his opinion at a hearing in the Duma: “War is not only on the battlefield”, “on our children’s smartphones, cartoons and movies”.
In early August, various parties introduced draft legislation banning the “propagation of non-traditional values”. The “popularization” of non-traditional relationships was said at the time to be a danger to society – like drugs and extremism.
Alexander Sinstein (head of the Information Committee) also drew the war analogy and explained that it takes place “in the minds and souls of the people”. The Blitz law is intended to replace a 2013 law that says minors in Russia cannot be exposed to “gay propaganda.”
The new draft proposes to ban “denial of family values” and “promotion of non-traditional sexual orientations” for people of all ages. Penalties for “violations” are to be drastically increased.
The anti-homosexuality laws in Russia are supported by somewhat insane propaganda measures, for example in the form of a queer television show.
In the new show, eight male contestants must “prove” they’re not gay. Co-moderator of the infamous form: Probably the gayest politician in Russia, Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov (48).
One of the show’s eight contestants is said to be gay. Until the homosexual is exposed, men have to perform various tasks while expressing their gender. The winner will receive two million rubles (about 26,000 euros).
69 percent of the population (at the end of April 2022) are against same-sex relationships and 38 percent feel “disgust” or even “fear” of homosexuals.
