Rivals100 DT Jason Moore breaks his Ohio State commitment

Notre Dame seemed to have the inside track early on, but Ohio State managed to win over Moore and his family. Moore broke his decision to commit to the Buckeyes with Rivals.com.

“I just feel like it’s the best place to develop my character to be the best version of myself on and off the court,” Moore said. “I feel like every day I will have the support system around me to push me, and I have players who are really developing me on the field as well. There are a lot of strong players that come every couple of years, I feel it definitely drives me to get better every day. For me that was really big. .

“It was definitely difficult,” he said of his decision. “I had a lot of second thoughts. After each visit, I was thinking this is the school. After this last visit, I spent time with my family and we all decided we thought it was best for me to develop into a man.”

“Coach Larry Johnson has definitely made a huge impact,” Moore said. “Just seeing everything he has done, the respect he has from everyone, the confidence he has, so I put a lot of faith in him to develop me on and off the field as a man and make me the best version of myself.

“They definitely work every day,” he said. “I was able to see a practice while I was there so you could really see them in action. One thing they told me about is that all the things off the field like coaching and internships that really enable them to have a lot of opportunities that could make them more money outside the FA American.

“Of course, you work with the NFL and that’s the dream, but the show was there, they’re going to set you up for opportunities to pursue what you want to do in life,” Moore said. “It definitely stood out.

“I’m trying to bring John Walker “I’ve been with him,” he said. “I visited with him so we were there together. Our families were building a good relationship too. Definitely trying to get him on the plane. I’m also trying to get Desmond Omozulu From here in Flowers. This is what I’m big on now.”

Landing Moore’s commitment is a major boost to Ohio’s frontline. He’s joined by Will Smith as the only two defensive line commitments in their 2023 class, but they’re sure to have a company soon. Moore hasn’t been shy about naming Walker and Umozulu as players he wants to join in Columbus and there’s a good chance they’ll both end up in crimson and grey.

As a player, Moore possessed an impressive skill set that would allow him to play multiple roles in the interior of Ohio State’s defensive line. A lot about his game will depend on his physical development once he hits campus, but he’s already very technically advanced, so Larry Johnson has a lot to work with. Moore does a good job using his hands to disengage from the offensive linemen and uses his impressive speed to get to the ball carrier. It also displays great balance for a player of his size and uses it to his advantage when slipped by offensive linemen on his way to the backcourt.
