Netflix has announced the cast for the next installment of the “Fear Street” franchise, “Prom Queen.”
The cast of “Fear Street: Prom Queen” includes Indya Fowler (“The Nevers,” “Insomnia”), Susanna Sohn (“Red Rocket,” “The Idol”), and Vina Strazza (“Paper Girls,” and “Above the Shadows”). ), David Iacono (“The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Cinnamon”), Ella Rubin (“The Idea of You”) and Chris Klein (“Sweet Magnolias,” “American Pie”) with Lili Taylor (“Outer Range,” “Manhunt”) and Katherine Waterston (“The End Where We Begin”, “Perry Mason”).
The upcoming teen horror film is based on R.L. Stine's 1992 Fear Street novel The Prom Queen. According to the official line, “Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school's wolf pack It Girls are busy with their usual cute and naughty crusades for the crown. But when a brave stranger is unexpectedly nominated to court, and other girls begin mysteriously disappearing, the… 88 suddenly prepares for prom night.
Yvonne Bernard, Joan Warisha and Jane Stein will serve as executive producers alongside Carolyn Petofsky, who is overseeing production at Chernin Entertainment. Producers include Peter Chernin, Gino Topping and Corey Adelson for Chernin Entertainment.
Back in January, Stine announced that a new “Fear Street” movie was in development at Netflix.
“Movie news: I can finally announce that a new Fear Street movie is about to begin production for Netflix,” Stein wrote on X/Twitter. “It's based on my book 'Fear Street', 'The Prom Queen'. Good news!”
This will be the fourth 'Fear Street' film on Netflix following the 2021 trilogy directed by Leigh Janiak – 'Fear Street Part 1: 1994', 'Fear Street Part 2: 1978' and 'Fear Street Part 3: 1666'.
