Earlier this week, Sony announced limited edition PS5, PS5 Pro, and other accessories as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations. Now, we have some close-up images of the limited edition consoles and DualSense controllers that show off the incredible level of detail work on the hardware.
The images show the PS5 Pro and the anniversary PS5, as well as the limited-edition DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers and case. Close-up images show incredible detail on the Edge controller, showing small triangle, circle, X, and square patterns on the touchpad. There’s very small “30th Anniversary” text hidden on the Pro itself, and other small patterns on the inner “crease” of the controller.
The PS5 Pro bundle will come with the Pro itself, a vertical stand, a charging station, a DualSense Edge controller and case, a cable connector modeled after the original PlayStation controller, four cable ties modeled after the sacred symbols, a sticker, a decal, and a paper clip. Pricing for the bundle has yet to be announced, nor has it been announced for the other console, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition, which comes with a regular DualSense controller, a vertical stand, a cable connector modeled after the original PlayStation controller, four cable ties modeled after the sacred symbols, a sticker, a decal, and a paper clip. Pre-orders will be available starting September 26 for individuals with PSN accounts, as well as at participating retailers.
The PS5 Pro was one of the industry’s worst-kept secrets for months before its official reveal earlier this month. The console is priced at $700, doesn’t come with a disc drive, and launches on November 7 of this year. PlayStation fans reacted to the high price point with surprise when it was announced, with our own surveys suggesting that only 10 to 15 percent of respondents would buy the console, largely because they were put off by its cost. However, Sony has since said it can justify the higher price due to a lack of competition. Sony has since announced that it will sell “certified refurbished” PS5s for half the price of the PS5 Pro, and sales of the PS5 disc drive have also increased in the wake of the announcement.
