Project Giants Picks 2022: Immediate Reaction and Analysis to Day Three’s Choices

The Giants came to the draft with four picks for the third day, but added a second fourth-round pick and a third fifth-round pick in trades with Atlanta Falcons And New York JetsStraight.

The Giants got off to a strong start in the first round with outstanding additions Kayvonne Thibodeau and attacking tackle Evan Neal. On the other hand, on the second day of the draft, fans asked “Who?” With a selection from receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu and Cornerback Cordale Flott.

Fourth round

112th overall – Daniel Bellinger, TE, San Diego State

We knew the Giants would have to get out of the draft with a tight finish after adjusting the situation completely over the course of the season. Bellinger has an interesting combination of size and athletic performance at 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds with a 9.66 RAS.

Bellinger still has a bit of an evolution perspective that needs to hone his game and become a more consistent technician. However, it does offer the Giants a potential long-term answer in the tight end position if it can become a steady start.

He has the attributes to contribute as a receiver and blocker, play from the line, split, or potentially move around the offensive lineup.

114th overall – Dane Belton, DB, Iowa

The Belton has good size, sporting ability and a profile that fits nicely in Big-Nickel or dollar packages. Belton offers some upside to covering in the leg versus the tight ends and big openings. He provides a physical nature at the line of scrimmage with a jam and ride while being an overall strong player with good playing power.

Pelton aligned 536 times in the hole, 290 times in the box, 57 times in the free safety, and 51 times on the line of scrimmage near the box. He has high pressure and is a more athletic version of Geno Stone – a player selected by the Ravens in the seventh round of the 2020 Draft.

The Giants desperately need help with a safety stand. Pelton should be a situational piece with upside-down special teams that can be used as a third or fourth safety to start off the upside of being a starter for future Giants.
