Trump wants to end not only the war in Ukraine, but all conflicts in the world if he becomes the president of the United States again. In a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, the two discussed next steps.

US presidential candidate Donald Trump has spoken to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the phone and announced that he will end the war in Ukraine if he returns to the White House. “I am grateful to President Zelensky for reaching out to me because as the next President of the United States I will bring peace to the world and end the war that has destroyed countless innocent families,” Trump said. His online network is Truth Social.

Congratulating Trump on his presidential nomination, Zelensky condemned the assassination attempt on him. “I wanted strength and security for the future,” Zelensky said. “Ukraine will always be grateful for the help the United States has given us to strengthen our ability to counter Russian terrorism,” he said. “Russian attacks on our towns and villages continue every day. We agreed to meet face-to-face with President Trump to discuss steps that will lead to a just and truly lasting peace.”

In a speech Thursday at the Republican National Convention formally accepting his nomination for president, Trump announced that he would end the wars if he returned to the White House. “I will end every international crisis the current administration has caused, including the terrible war with Russia and Ukraine,” he said.

If Trump wins the US presidential election in November, Washington’s support for Ukraine could be called into question. Trump’s declarations that he would end the war very quickly if he wins the election mean that Kiev will be pushed from a position of weakness to negotiating with Moscow.
