Philadelphia Eagles make center Jason Kelsey highest-paid in the NFL with new $14 million deal

Philadelphia – Eagles and Center Jason Kelsey A source has confirmed a new $14 million contract, making him the highest-paid in the league.

Kelsey, who has been considering retirement, announced Thursday that he will be returning for his 12th season in the NFL.

The NFL Network was the first to report the new deal.

The sources said the contract is structured similarly to the $9 million deal he signed last year, and operates as a one-year deal but with funds spread over several years for capping purposes.

The Eagles have done everything they can to motivate Kelsey, who has considered retiring for the past several seasons, to play for another year. Coach Nick Siriani even sent a keg of beer to Kelchi’s house to visit. In a video posted on social media on Thursday, Kelci took a long gulp of beer poured from that keg before announcing his comeback, saying he was “having a lot of fun” to get away.

Kelsey, 34, continues to play at a high level. He captured his first All-Pro Team title for the fourth time in his career in 2021 while making his fifth Pro Bowl. It ranked seventh in pass block win rate (95.7%) and fourth in running block win rate (72.2%) among centers in 2021, according to ESPN metrics backed by NFL Next Gen Stats.
