Parliament approves Netanyahu’s right-wing religious government

Two months after the election, Parliament Israel Government of the Conqueror Benjamin Netanyahu Approved. In Thursday’s confidence vote, 63 out of 120 MPs voted in favor of the new government. It is the most right-wing government Israel has ever had. Amir Okana of Netanyahu’s right-wing conservative Likud party was elected as the new speaker of parliament. Then the oath of office of individual party members began.

Former Prime Minister Netanyahu is back in power after a year and a half. In Israel’s history, no one has held office longer than the 73-year-old. This is the sixth government he will form.

Netanyahu: “I will do everything to prevent Iran from nuking us”

With angry shouts from his opponents, Netanyahu laid out his most important goals for the next four years at the plenum. Everything will be done “so Iran doesn’t nuke us”. His government will also work on reconciliation agreements with other Arab countries.

The new government has 64 out of 120 seats in Parliament. Half of them belong to Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party, while the other half belong to the far-right religious-Zionist coalition and two hardline religious parties. Netanyahu’s camp won an absolute majority in parliamentary elections held on November 1. This is the fifth election in three and a half years. (dpa/mbo)
