Blizzard has gotten us in the holiday mood, as this year’s Overwatch Winter Wonderland patch has finally arrived with plenty of holiday goodies for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC.
Not only do we get new skins for various characters, but also a limited-time game mode. First off, the latest Overwatch update brings new skins for Ana, Hanzo, Junkart, Bastion, Soldier 76, Sombra, and Roadhog.
Besides, the Winter Wonderland patch also brings a new mode called Mei’s Yeti Hunt. It’s essentially a boss fight mode where players face-off against a team controlling six Yetis, while the other players controls just ONE Winston.
Not to mention, the update also marks the return of Mei’s Snowball Offensive. With this ability, players can unleash an infinite barrage of snowballs, though only for a short period of time.
Also, Mei’s Snowball Offensive mode has been shifted to the Black Forest arena map, which will feature an updated skin until the event’s duration.
Overwatch’s Winter Wonderland event is now live across the PS4, Xbox One, as well as the PC. The event ends on January 1, 2018.
To recall, Overwatch was originally released in May 2016. The multiplayer shooter has been a massive success for Blizzard with nearly 35 million registered players. The game’s immense following can be attributed to its unique game mechanics, as it’s not just your everyday run and gun shooting game. It features a wide range of characters, each having its own unique set of skills and attributes.
And given the game’s ever growing popularity, Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan recently said that the company is planning a Switch port for Overwatch. However,, he also believes that it won’t be easy. Not to mention, Blizzard recently opened a dedicated e-sports arena in Burbank, California. The publisher’s new e-sports facility is called ‘Blizzard Arena Los Angeles’, and is situated inside the Burbank Studios – the same studio which gave us “The Tonight Show”.
