The new OnePlus 6 will have a notch on its display which is similar to iPhone-X. According to the Verge, the company said that they are trying to make a change in design and the next phone will be more than another iPhone copycat. OnePlus is making the option to go with this design route. Carl Pei who is the public face of OnePlus said: “ How big a notch always depends on your choices as a company.” The main aim is to move the entire notification to top of the screen, as a result, it will give more content to the users.
Pei said that the OnePlus notch is different and it is implemented with care. He added by saying that OnePlus could not be small without compromising the quality of earpiece, front-facing camera or eliminating the proximity and ambient light sensors or LED notification light.
The OnePlus team is testing about 1,000 Play Store apps to determine the compatibility mode with the notch. The phone will be having the clock to the left side of the screen so that it will have more room for status icons and it will disguise the notch when the video is playing on the phone. This will recreate the overall screen curvature. The company says that it is doing this to maximize screen real estate for the user where notch gives some space by absorbing notification and status icon. It will remove Android software keys and will give more space.
The company is not giving any details about OnePlus 6 but it is expected that the release of this phone could be earlier from the usual timeline of the company during the month of June. The specs the company shared till now is indicating that it will be the OnePlus biggest Screen till now which will come with a notch-assisted screen-to-body ratio of about 90 percent.
