Earlier this week, multiple reports suggested that OnePlus will directly push the launch of the OnePlus 6, and skip the OnePlus 5T. However, a new report by AndroidAuthority claims completely otherwise. According to the report, the OnePlus 5T is set for a release sometime in November.
It goes without that readers should take this information with a grain of salt. That being said, it’s worth noting that OnePlus did announce the OnePlus 3T in November last year.
To recall, OnePlus launched an upgraded variant of its OnePlus 3 flagship called the OnePlus 3T. Both handsets shared a similar design and more or less packed similar specs. However, the OnePlus 3T came with an upgraded processor and battery.
Hence, we also expect the rumored OnePlus 5T to come with subtle hardware or design upgrades. Notably, the report further claims that the OnePlus 5T will offer an upgraded display department. The report states that the handset will get a 6-inch display that offer a 2160×1080 pixel resolution with an aspect ratio of 16:9.
Now, this implies that in order to use a new display, the company will have to tweak the overall design aesthetics of the handset. It’s also worth noting that the OnePlus 3T featured the Snapdragon 821 processor, which was Qualcomm’s newest chipset in the market back then.
Currently, the Snapdragon 835 is the latest chipset from Qualcomm which is found in pretty much every flagship launch this year. And numerous reports suggest that Qualcomm has no plans to launch its successor this year. Therefore, the possibility of a new processor on-board the alleged OnePlus 5T can be ruled out.
That said, chances are that the OnePlus 5T might be upgraded with a bezel-less design featuring an aspect ratio of 18:9. Though as already mentioned, these rumors should be taken with a big grain of salt as nothing is officially confirmed at the moment, and neither can sources validate the credibility of this information.
