OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei almost confirmed in a tweet that the OnePlus 5 has run out of stock in most international markets. This has led to speculations that the company is gearing up for the launch of the alleged OnePlus 5T. Though for now, details regarding the handset’s launch remain slim but key sources suggest a November release is likely on the cards.
As per earlier leaks, the OnePlus 5T is expected to look much like the original OnePlus 5. However, the rumored OnePlus 5T is expected to sport a 6-inch display having an aspect ratio of 18:9 along with very thin bezels. Now, a couple of leaked images of the rumored OnePlus 5T have surfaced on the web.
Going by the leaked image, it appears the fingerprint has sensor has been relocated from the front on to the handset’s rear. Now, this would allow the company to rework on the handset’s design, allowing them to develop an almost bezel-free display or a screen having very thin bezels.
Also, these leaked renders suggest that the OnePlus 5T looks pretty similar to the Galaxy S8 from the front, while the back of the handset looks remarkably similar to the iPhone 7. And given the fact that it’s a T update, just like how the OnePlus 3T was an upgraded variant of the OnePlus 3, most of the hardware of the OnePlus 5T is expected to stay the same as the OnePlus 5.
This implies the upcoming OnePlus 5T could likely retain the same dual-lens camera setup, Snapdragon 835 processor, and will be offered in similar 6GB and 8GB RAM variants of the original OnePlus 5.
Though it goes without saying that readers should take this information with a pinch of salt as nothing is official at the moment. Another possibility is that these leaked images could be of the upcoming OnePlus 6, which is likely to debut sometime in 2018. The good news, however, is that we’ll hear something concrete in the next few weeks if the company has plans to announce the OnePlus 5T.
