OnePlus has finally confirmed that the rumored OnePlus 5T is indeed in the works. Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, recently promised that they’ll be keeping the classic 3.5mm jack for their next flagship smartphone. As per earlier reports, the handset is expected to feature a near bezel-free display having an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Now, the OnePlus 5T has allegedly been spotted on popular database GFXBench, giving us a good idea about the handset’s key specs ahead of its official release. Going by the listing, the OnePlus 5T is expected to pack a 6-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. Even the likes of the LG V30 and Google Pixel 2 XL sport a similar resolution, which gives them an aspect ratio of 18:9. Hence, even the upcoming OnePlus 5T is expected to get a screen having an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Elsewhere, the listing reveals that just like the OnePlus 5, the OnePlus 5T will be offered in two variants – one with 6GB of RAM and 32GB of storage while the other with 8GB RAM and 128GB of built-in storage.
The device should get powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processor, as Qualcomm has no plans to release Snapdragon 836 SoC this year. The handset is also expected to run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo when it launches.
Interestingly, the listing also suggests that the OnePlus 5T will get improvements in the camera department compared to the OnePlus 5. As going by the benchmark listing on GFXBench, the OnePlus 5T may get a 20MP selfie-cam compared to the OnePlus 5 which comes with a 16MP front-facing shooter. However, it’s expected to retain the same dual-lens primary camera setup with two 16MP sensors. That said, rumor has it that the OnePlus 5T might offer users the ability to click photos in portrait mode with bokeh effect.
As far as launch goes, the company has been teasing that the device is all geared for an official release. According to new teasers posted by OnePlus, it appears the company’s plans to launch the handset at an event in New York.
The company posted a picture on Sunday and asked everyone to guess the location where they’ll launch the OnePlus 5T. According to sources, the company might announce the flagship phone in New York City somewhere near West 34th Street in Broadway area of Manhattan. Not to mention, a leaked image was also dong rounds on the web suggesting that the handset may launch on November 16.
