Olivia Munn embraces the skin she’s in.
The 44-year-old actress was honored at InStyle’s Imagemaker Awards on Thursday night in recognition of her advocacy for breast cancer awareness after revealing her recent health struggles with an aggressive form of the disease.
For the star-studded event, during which she accepted a Woman of Impact Award with a surprise presentation by her husband John Mulaney, Munn chose a dark green dress that showed more skin than she had previously revealed amid her battle with cancer.
The flowy dress featured a very low back and revealed her mastectomy scars, which she debuted in a Skims ad campaign in partnership with Susan G. Komen earlier this week. Ten percent of bra sales through October 31 will go to the charity’s breast cancer research.
While posing in Skims’ viral nipple bra and even ditching her shirt in select shots, Munn opened up about how a photoshoot for Kim Kardashian’s lingerie line made her feel confident.
on InstagramSharing the photos, Munn wrote, “Midway through my final @Skims bra campaign shoot, I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars. Every mark life has left on my body is proof of how hard I fought. I hope you see other women who They feel ashamed of their scars in this photo and feel all the love I am sending.
These statements and photos come after an interview in April where she spoke candidly about trying to hide her “battle wounds” on the red carpet.
“I have some holes and scratches on one side of my body near where my lymph nodes are, and they had to really dig them out,” she said in an interview at the time. “And I was wearing some dresses on the red carpet which made me feel a little nervous sometimes.”
Mulaney – with whom Moon has two children, including one-month-old baby May – surprised his wife by presenting the award and delivering an emotional speech in her honor.
“She shared her story to help anyone she could. According to the National Cancer Institute, in the week after Olivia shared the story of her breast cancer journey, there was a 4,000 percent increase in the number of women visiting for breast cancer risk assessment. The comedian explained. “This was Week 1. Olivia saving lives by telling the truth is no surprise to me.
Mulaney continued, sharing what his wife told him during her many surgeries: “She said, ‘I’m afraid, but I’m taking all of this and I won’t let it cloud our lives.’” I’m over it.
“I thought how lucky our children were to have you as their mother, and how lucky I am to have you as my life partner.”
