The latest Nokia flagship from HMD Global – the Nokia 8 was recently launched in different countries across the globe. Now, key sources suggest that the premium handset is all set to receive the new Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of October.
That said, a specific rollout date or release schedule for Nokia 8’s Android Oreo update still remains unknown at the moment. However, HMD officials have promised that the handset will get the Android 8.0 update.
Android 8.0 or Android Oreo brings forth a wide array of new features and improvements. These include support for Android Instant apps, improved battery management, more streamlined Notification channels as well as support for enhanced Picture-in-picture mode. Not to forget, Android 8.0 also brings faster boot speeds which should make supported Pixel devices load twice as twice compared to Android Nougat.
Elsewhere, Android 8.0 or Android Oreo also brings notifications badges for app icons, which essentially allows users to quickly skim through what’s new. While with Android Instant Apps, you can jump right into new apps directly from your browser without having to install that app.
Android Oreo 8.0 also comes with a Wi-Fi Assistant feature to help users quickly connect their devices to open Wi-Fi hotspots, which will be secured with a Google-backed VPN. Others features included are support for adaptive icons, ambient screen support, downloadable fonts, full color management support, along with an along with an accessibility volume and button.
Apart from these changes, Android 8.0 arrives with over 60 new emojis.
Meanwhile, the Nokia 8 flagship was unveiled at an event in London last month which came with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. Now, sources suggest that new variant of the handset is geared for its US release. The handset was apparently spotted on US FCC listing with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.
In addition, the Nokia 8 will also get support for ANT+feature and WCDMA Band IV listings which allows users to keep track of health and fitness data in real-time directly on the smartphone.
Key specs on the Nokia 8 include a 5.3-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the smartphone gets powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 processor and runs Android 7.1.1 OS out-of-the-box. The highlight of the Nokia 8 is its dual-lens primary camera with Zeiss Optics. The Nokia 8 comes with a dual-lens camera setup featuring a 13MP RGB sensor and a 13MP monochrome sensor.
