HMG Global – the Finnish manufacturer who has rights to sell Nokia-branded handsets is expected to release its flagship handset soon. The rumor mill suggests it could be called the Nokia 8 or Nokia 9. In the past, multiple prototypes of the purported Nokia 8 or Nokia 9 flagship have shown up on Geekbench listings. Last month, a prototype of the handset with the model number TA-1012 showed up on Geekbench giving us an idea about its specs.
That being said, the latest one to appear bears the model number TA-1004, giving us an idea about its specs. According to a German tech-based blog WinFuture, the Nokia 8 will be a top-of-the-line phone featuring the latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The chipset will reportedly come bundled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.
The report also notes that the handset will come with dual-SIM capabilities. The company is also said to offer a single SIM variant as well, adds the report. However, WinFuture remains uncertain about previously rumored specifications of the alleged Nokia 8. As past reports indicated that the Nokia 8 might feature a 5.7-inch QHD display and dual 13MP primary cameras.
Meanwhile, a Scandinavian retailer purportedly claims that the device is slated for a release on July 31, and will carry a price tag of 589 euros ( or approx $675). Also, the rumor mill suggests that HMD Global plans to release the phone in four color options for the smartphone – Blue, Steel, Gold/Blue, along with Gold/Copper.
Past reports and leaks also speculated that the alleged Nokia 8 or Nokia 9 will likely arrive in the second-half of 2017. However, the Nokia 8 still remains quite a mystery.
HMD Global recently tied up German optics Carl Zeiss, a rather familiar branding found on Nokia phones of the yesteryears. Those stretch to as far back as the Nokia N95 to the Lumia range thereafter. Things seem to have peaked with such handsets such as the Nokia Lumia 1020 that came with a range topping 41-megapixel camera.
