After her outstanding performance in Tom Brady gets heavy criticism Comedian Nikki Glaser is set to host the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will air on Sunday, January 5, 2025 on CBS and stream on Paramount+ in the United States.

“I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights on TV and now I get to sit front row (actually, I think I should be hosting from the stage),” Glaser said. “The Golden Globes are not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that the showbiz industry not only allows, but encourages, itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (Oh my god, I hope so.) It’s exciting, but it’s also tough because it’s live, it’s unexpected, and it’s in front of the biggest stars in Hollywood (who also get drunk sitting next to their exes).”

Glaser, who has said in recent interviews that hosting a major awards show is her goal, praised former Golden Globes hosts Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who have served as hosts five and four times, respectively.

“Some of my all-time favorite jokes have come from past Golden Globes opening monologues when Tina, Amy, or Ricky said exactly what we all knew we desperately needed to hear. I just hope I can continue that time-honored tradition (it might even cost me my job). This is truly my dream job. Plus, I no longer have to feel guilty about every TV show and movie I’ve watched over the past year. It’s been worth it.”Below Deck: Sailing Yacht Season 4 “He’ll be nominated, won’t he?”

The announcement that Glasser will host the ceremony in August contrasts with last year when Jo Koy was named host in late December, just two weeks before the show. It came after CBS’s deal for the 2024 Golden Globes wasn’t finalized until mid-November.

Following the ratings success of the 2024 Golden Globes, CBS and Dick Clark Productions, owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture between Penske Media Corporation, owner of Deadline, and Eldridge, in March signed a new five-year deal to present the awards show.

“Nikki Glaser brings a fresh, unparalleled candor to her comedy and to the Golden Globes,” said Jay Pinsky, Chairman and CEO of Dick Clark Productions and Pinsky Media. “Her bold style makes her an obvious and compelling choice as host of this year’s event. We hope this is the first of many Golden Globes that Nikki will surprise and delight our CBS audience, as well as our audiences around the world.”

Like this year’s ceremony, the 2025 Golden Globes will be held after a high-profile American football game on CBS. Thanks to her viral appearance on Tom Brady’s Netflix show, Glaser has gained new popularity among football fans, something CBS will likely look to capitalize on.

“The Golden Globes have a rich history as a night for entertaining and provocative humor,” said George Cheeks, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Global. “Nikki Glaser is a comedic force whose hilarious, bold and irreverent comedy will continue that legacy and cement this special as a must-see event on CBS.”

Glaser’s announcement comes ahead of the selection of the 2025 Oscars host, which is still under consideration.
