MSNBC, CNN and Fox News

Rachel Maddow

MSNBC beat Fox News in the 25-54 demographic for primetime Monday, hours after Fox announced its departure. Tucker Carlson from the network.

Fox released a statement saying they had mutually agreed to separate, but sources say he was fired. The termination of the top-rated host on cable news sent shockwaves through the media industry and angered a portion of the Republican base.

Brian Kilmeade Stepped in to host Carlson Fox News Tonight during Carlson’s old 8 p.m. timeslot and won the hour in both total viewers and demos. The network said it would draw from a rotating host group for the time being.

The timeslot saw a significant decrease in viewership (2.6 million total viewers) compared to the previous Monday (3.2 million viewers).

In the demo during prime time (8 p.m. to 11 p.m.), MSNBC beat the ratings, topping Fox News, with 247,000 to 245,000 viewers. Fox still leads in viewership overall.
