It wasn’t long ago that we learned Moana 2 The movie was originally scheduled to be released this year, and there’s not much time left before it hits theaters. At tonight’s D23 panel, Disney showed off a new trailer for the upcoming sequel, and it looks like it’s as much of an adventure as the original.

A few years after the last film, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) is settling in nicely to her Wayfinder duties, exploring the seas and connecting her home to other islands. When a falling star points to the location of an island that could help her mission, she sets out with a crew to find it, and it’s not long before Maui (Dwayne Johnson) shows up to offer some sort of help. Getting there involves battling some New Gods and other enemies, like an army of sentient coconuts. You know, standard Wayfinder stuff, plus the added duties of being a big sister, which Cravalho describes as “her whole world. When she’s not in big sister mode, she spends her time scouring nearby islands for evidence of more people.”

Aside from the new characters, the biggest change to the Moana 2 That comes from the music: Lin-Manuel Miranda will not be returning to handle the soundtrack, with Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear instead handling the task. So far, the only song revealed is called “We’re Back,” but during the presentation, Johnson confirmed that yes, he will lend his voice to a melody or tune again. “Maui sings again, and with notes that don’t exist,” he joked.
