Mike Tyson Takes Gap In Hulu For The ‘Mike’ Series – Deadline

In a social media post, Tyson commented, “Hulu is the streaming version of a slave master. They stole my story and never paid me.”

Tyson’s latest post follows another one he posted on the same social media platform in which he praised UFC President Dana White for allegedly refusing to promote the Hulu series.

Tyson claimed in a statement posted on Instagram. He refused it because it honors friendship and treats people with dignity. I will never forget what he did for me just as I will never forget what Hulu stole from me.”

On Thursday’s Hulu TV Critics’ Tour panel, project presenter Karen Guest spoke about the unauthorized nature of the project. “We just wanted to tell an unbiased story and get the audience to decide what they think or feel,” Geist said. “Challenge what people think they know about Mike and hope they walk away from the series with something else they can think of. This wasn’t the first time the heavyweight champ has criticized Hulu in the biopic. Back in February 2021, Tyson also took to Instagram To raise his voice against the streamer after the project was announced.

“Hulu’s announcement of making an unauthorized mini-series of the Tyson story without compensation, while unfortunate, is not surprising,” the boxer said in a now-deleted post. “This announcement in the wake of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu’s greed led to this cultural misappropriation of Tyson’s life story. Making this announcement during Black History Month only underscores Hulu’s dollar interest in respecting the rights of the black story. Hollywood should be more Sensitivity to dark experiences especially after everything that happened in 2020.”

“Mike” is set to premiere August 25 on Hulu. The series was created by Stephen Rogers (I’m Tonya) It stars Trivante Rhodes. Other cast members include Russell Hornsby, Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, and Lee Eubank.
