A man allegedly attacked several people with a sword in London, the capital of England. A 13-year-old boy has died.
London police have arrested a man with a sword who allegedly injured several people in the north-east of the city. A 13-year-old boy died in the attack, the BBC reported. Emergency services were called to an incident near a train station. “We treated five people on site and took all five to hospital,” emergency services said. Police arrested a 36-year-old man.
Metropolitan police said they were called to reports of a vehicle crashing into a building in the Hainault district and several people being stabbed. According to preliminary investigations, the suspect allegedly assaulted civilians and two police officers.
“That would have been a terrible incident.”
“We are still awaiting information on the condition of the injured,” the police statement first said. “It must have been a terrible incident for the victims,” Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelegun said. “We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public. We are not looking for additional suspects. This incident does not appear to be terrorism-related.”
Great Britain's Home Secretary James Wisely thanked the rescue workers and told the X Platform that his thoughts were with the victims. He called on people to be wise not to speculate or distribute footage of the case online, but to report important information to the police.
